Lili Reinhart Has No Idea What “Cuffing Season” Is

But like, don’t worry. We told her.

Lili Reinhart is busy. She works 14-hour days on the set of Riverdale. She’s in a movie (Hustlers, ever heard of it?) with J. Lo, Cardi B, and Constance Wu. She’s one half of a high-profile relationship with her equally-famous Riverdale costar, Cole Sprouse. (I mean, I think. Who really knows? She’s notoriously private about her relationship.)

Frankly, it’s surprising that Lili even found the time to sit with me at an American Express Green Card event in Brooklyn. But she was really, genuinely thrilled to tell me about how I can get “three times the membership rewards points on travel, transit, and restaurants worldwide,” which…somehow made me pretty excited too? Also, I was really hoping that she would name-drop Cole. She didn’t, but she did give me a bunch of vague, subtly-juicy tidbits about her unnamed significant other.

Tell me about the best trip you’ve ever taken—where you went, who you were with, why it was the best.

One of my favorite trips was when I went to Mexico City three years ago with the Riverdale cast. We went to talk to Warner Brothers Latin America, like, after season 1 had aired. We explored, and I went to museums, and we ate food, and we went to a Lucha Libre. It was amazing. I had the best time.

Well that sounds like a vacation, it doesn’t even sound like work-work!

It was a vacation. It was, like, work, for eight hours a day, and then we had the rest of the night. And an eight-hour workday to me is a very short day. We work, like, fourteen-, fifteen-hour days everyday. So when I have an eight-hour work day, I’m like, “Look at all this free time!”

Oh, wow. So…not all heroes wear capes.

Yeah, you know, I don’t think a lot of people realize how long the hours are. Sometimes I don’t even realize it! I’m like, “Oh, is that not normal? Do people not work for sixteen hours a day?”

Do you prefer to travel solo or with friends? Family? Significant others? Who do you like to travel with the most?

As much as I love to travel with my family or a significant other, I think it’s fun to be with a group of people. You kind of get more experiences out of it. You can let other people plan dinner, or an event, and I like that.

Do you have any recommendations for romantic places to travel with a significant other? It is almost cuffing season.

Cuffing…season? What's that?

Cuffing season?! Like, when it gets cold, and you want to, like…snatch up a boyfriend or girlfriend to cuddle with in the winter months?

Ohhhhh.

Yeah, cuffing season! Anyway, have you traveled with a significant other? Do you have recommendations for romantic places to go, things to do? How to not kill each other when you’re sharing a bathroom for a week?!

Sure! I’ve definitely traveled with a significant other. I think it’s kind of, like, no matter where you go, if you take the time to explore the city and maybe do something that you wouldn’t normally do in that city, you’ll have a good time. But also being sure to split the activities…you know? If I want to stay in one night, I can do that. If he wants to go out two nights in a row, that’s fine. You give and take.

What kind of gifts do you like to give and receive in a relationship?

I like to give experiences if I can. If I can pay for a trip somewhere…whether it’s booking a flight, or a really cool hotel, and going somewhere together and making it a romantic thing. That’s really better than a physical gift. Walking away with an experience is more romantic in my mind.

Okay, can we do a little rapid-fire? In a relationship, do you prefer to eat at a restaurant, or cook together?

Eat at a restaurant. I like to go out to eat! Although, I’m not a foodie. I’m very picky, but I still love to go out to eat. I like the experience of going out and dressing up.

Stay in together, or go out together?

Stay in together.

Split a pizza, or a bottle of wine?

Split a pizza!

Text or FaceTime each other?

FaceTime! I don’t like texting all day. I prefer FaceTime. It’s a nice way to check in.
